NVH physical testing is a methodology which helps engineers to validate their product in terms of vibration performance in real world condition. NVH physical testing is carried out for parts/components which would come under cyclic loading condition. Engine vibration, road load, motor vibration and wind load are some common cyclic loading environments. The parts which would be used under cyclic loading conditions to be physically validated before being used.
Wheels, BIW, radiator frame, engine mountings, shock mountings, cross car beams, front air grills, head lamps, mirrors and panels are some common components/assemblies to be validated by NVH physical testing methods. By NVH physical testing, experimental mode shape, mode frequency, dynamic stiffness, damping values, etc., can be predicted. CAE Simulation results can be validated by comparing FEA results with experimentally predicted results.
